Field Notes

Description:

About 15cm total length including tail, brown colour, with brown streaks radiating from the eye. Dorsal crest moderately elevated on the neck.

Habitat:

Spotted during a day walk at Gunung Gede National Park (a dense tropical forest near a small river and waterfall), Java / Indonesia.

Notes:

It is an insectivore and the male gets a bright red throat in the breeding season.
