Description:

Also known as a cross orb weaver. Garden spider with newly caught crane fly in its web. The spider immediately wrapped the fly up in more webbing, and it was still trying to move in this photo. The spider ate the fly within about 30 minutes.

Habitat:

Yards, gardens, farms, orchards, urban and suburban areas throughout North America. Also found in forest edges, old fields, and even high up on skyscrapers in the city!
