Oh, you know this place? That is wonderful! Yes, it is a great birding place - my home away from home! Ok, I listened to the calls/songs of both, and I think you are correct Owen - Carolina it is - I'll edit my spotting
Hey, I go through the gardens all the time! I love it! Such a nice birding place in the spring!
Was the song loud and projected "teakettle teakettle teakettle" That would be my "alibi" so to say
Hold up. This is a Carolina Wren. I'd bet my house on it.
Maybe I got lucky, because this area is surrounded by cattails and marshes, and a boardwalk cut through. It just landed on some brush and started singing.
It very well could be, it looks like the line over the eye and the short bill is right for the species, but I personally have a hard time telling wrens apart. And from my experience, it would be unusual for a Marsh Wren to be out in the open, they are usually found in thick cattails, but that doesn't mean that this isn't one. Hopefully someone can help a little more!
Thank you Ashley! I think is a Marsh Wren no that you mention Wren. They had a sign saying there are March Wren there.
It is a species of Wren, I'm just not sure which one. They are all pretty similar.
