Description:

The Legume family (Fabaceae). Purple prairie clover is a native, warm season, herbaceous, perennial, leguminous forb. (see reference source in Notes.)

Habitat:

Prairies, rocky open glades, along railroad tracks, and rocky woods,
in soils ranging from clay loams to loamy sands.
