Field Notes

Habitat:

This specimen was caught in an orchard, in a region of an environmental reserve of Atlantic Forest.

Notes:

Some friends of mine are doing some researches of bats, then I help a little. The "Vampyressa pusilla" have a frugivorous diet.

Congrats! This spotting is being featured as a PN Fun Fact! Project Noah Fun Fact: Bats belong to the order Chiroptera, meaning hand-winged. There are two main groups the Megachiroptera that use sight to guide their flight, and the Microchiroptera that use echolocation. In general (there are always exceptions), the Megachiroptera are frugivores while the Microchiroptera are carnivores (mostly insectivores).

Oh "BeccaYonev", yes, very much! And, believe me, much of mammalogists think that the "Vampyressa pusilla" are one of the most "cute species" of bats...
