Description:

Here's a sturdy fellow resting on a pillar beside a large flower bed. A grasshopper who hopped away before I was finished taking pictures. The ID is tentative. (No. 200)

Suzzanne,my conclusion is that the scientific community needs to redefine range. Everything seems to be found everywhere!

Me, too, Cindyloohoo ... but there was a pretty big variation in color (green/brown) and it the sources I looked at placed it more to the west, in general.
Every one that I found that looked like this one had that name "differential grasshopper". :)
I'm not great at insects, but I've done some research. Could this be a "Differential grasshopper," Melanoplus differentialis?
