The rust colored part was very dark and vivid. Sap or sticky looking?

Habitat:

Rotting tree stump. Yard in wooded rural area

Notes:

Certain times of the year I have many different types of mushrooms growing around this property

I agree with gully.moy. It looks like one of the Ganoderma species.
Ganoderma tsugae or lucidum if the wood is conifer or deciduous respectively.
