Field Notes

Description:

Large caps with very distinctive radially cracked black fibrous caps, pink gills, dark umbo on some and straight white stem with high ring. Up to about 150mm across. These pics were taken on 3 different days over a week long period using 2 different cameras. The 'brown' colouring in the last 3 pics should be near inky black.

Habitat:

A local resident received a huge pile of woodchip mulch about 2 years ago and has left it lying in his back yard under large deciduous trees.

Notes:

A moelleri is rarely seen in Australia.. possibly introduced. This spotting was on woodchip pile (of unknown makeup) and under introduced tree species in suburbia. <br>
