Description:

Found these tadpoles in Essex, Massachusetts in late May, and brought them home to care for them until we release them back into the same pond. Wondering what species of frog they might be.

If they are the same kind of frog, then they are probably some kind of tree frogs. Tree frogs can climb glass. Doing a little research of frogs of Massachusetts, the only treefrog is a a Gray treefrog, so thats probably what it is.

Thanks dferris1. I think (not 100% sure but I think) that these are the same kind I found at the same site last year. Last year when they completed their metamorphosis, the frogs were tiny, probably less than 1" long. They used to climb up the sides of the aquarium, as well as spending time on rocks. I wondered if their ability to climb up the glass meant they might be some kind of tree frog. I just don't know if any frog or toad could do that!
