Though once widespread, less than 300 are left in the wild, prompting the IUCN to classify the species as critically-endangered.

Today, scattered populations can be found in the Northern Sierra Madre Natural Park in Isabela, Dalupiri island in the Babuyan Islands, the forests of Abra and Ligawasan Marsh in Mindanao.

Habitat:

Rivers, streams and marshes in the Philippines.
