Field Notes

Description:

App. 4 cm from head to tail. Found in the evening sitting very passive in a bush. I really hope it is a fully grown mantid this time... :)

Habitat:

Garden of a Lodge in an semi urban area. About 150 meter to the Indian Ocean.

Notes:

With this spotting I hope to get some ID suggestions, and Mantid information in general (good links etc) is also interesting since I have no clue about them fantastic creatures :)

Thank you Meesha ans Adarsha :) This one might be a great poser, and praying mantis in general.. But in this case I think I had a few interesting poses when photographing him... He was sitting upside-down in a small bush, I was on the ground, with ants and mosquitoes eating on me!... But It was woth it :)
Awwwww....adorable...agree with Adi..they also great posers,ryt?? :)
I love the way Mantises give facial expressions :) I always feel they want to communicate something with me and hide because they cannot talk :P
