Description:

Stand of Goldenrod showing two kinds of larval galls, sometimes both on the same plant. The leafy bursts of growth are Goldenrod rosette galls, caused by a midge fly, Rhopalomyia solidaginis. The bulbous swellings in the stems are caused by the Goldenrod gall fly, Eurosta solidaginis.
