Field Notes

Description:

<1cm, yellow mutant , it has the black instead of red dots laterally, purple dots inside these on the abdomen and yellow instead of green as the major body color, black stripe on the cephalothorax which does not match with this species illustration at all...

Habitat:

surface of a leaf of Enchanter's Nightshade (female reported to typically guard eggs under a curled up leaf)

Notes:

Lemon spotted with purple & black MUTANT! Not like the typical book image AT ALL! “polymorphic spider”! Asiatic introduction (Bradley 2013)

These little Cobweb guys are tough! Here is another option, I think it looks promising: Enoplognatha ovata: http://bugguide.net/node/view/26344
Yes, bugguide didn't have the full list of the species within the genus. It is quite long
Unfortunately Machi, that species doesn't occur on the East Coast of the US, but it does look close, I agree.
I think it looks the most like this one http://bugguide.net/node/view/519869/bgpage
Ingrid, I'll bet you anything that this is actually a Cobweb Spider from Genus Theridion: http://bugguide.net/node/view/10950/bgpage
