Field Notes

Description:

Roundtail Horned Lizards color depends on the area they live in. They are pebble mimics, so they will be the same color as the rocks they live in. He went into pebble form as soon as I set him down for pictures, and didn't move the entire time. The last picture shows him with a quarter and a baby Texas Horned Lizard.

Habitat:

Found him while I was walking alone a rocky road, I guess I almost stepped on him because I only saw him as he took off and went under a rock. So I just picked up the rock and grabbed him. Thorn scrub area.
