Field Notes

Description:

1 1/2" long wasp. This most closely resembles the Western cicada killer (Sphecius grandis) but I can't find a record of this species as far east as Tennessee.

Habitat:

Semi rural

Notes:

At one point this wasp landed on my arm for a few seconds. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a shot, but fortunately I also didn't get a sting!
