Field Notes

Description:

Native trout in Pennsylvania and state fish

Habitat:

Right now, in my classroom aquarium. Soon to be released into Sheppard Run.

Notes:

My science class raised these fish from eggs and stocked them when they were about 4" long in a local stream that runs by our school. I held back 10 fish to grow them bigger and provide a summer school activity for some of the kids who didn't get to participate. We've stocked over 1,000 Brook Trout in a program sponsored by Trout Unlimited called "Trout in the Classroom."
