Field Notes

Description:

These wild bees are found in India and other south east Asian countries. Very aggressive when disturbed. They are capable of vicious stings. Source of honey and bees wax of indigenous people. these bees are not domesticated and found in the wild only. Very large beehive may hold up to 20 kg oh honey. May be more than 100,000 bees in each nest. Individual size is about 20mm.

Habitat:

Spotted on the 9th floor apartment complex I live.

Sunny...interesting spotting. It does not appear these bees are as threatened as in the US.
