Field Notes

Description:

My very first sighting of Humpback Whales, and I was so excited. They were a fair way offshore so closeup pics just weren't possible. These two (sex unk.) were heading north towards the warmer waters of the Coral Sea off Queensland. Plenty of info about the species at the reference links.

Habitat:

Off the NSW Central Coast in the Tasman Sea. They were about 3-4 kms offshore and heading north.

Notes:

Thanks to my sister and her keen eyesight for spotting these whales. She said she wanted to see some, and there they were.
