Description:

One of the largest Dragonflies the Green Darner is nicknamed Darning Needles. Their eyesight is 360 degrees and can fly as fast as 50mph. They can hunt and kill prey larger then themselves.

Habitat:

Though they prefer still or slow moving water, this female maybe near the end of her lifecycle. She was flying over a dry area and moving slowly til she landed on a small bush.

Notes:

Spotted near the parking lot of Coyote Hills in Fremont.
