Field Notes

Description:

about 3/4", at first I thought this was a moth but when I got closer I could see that it was some sort of plant hopper. It wasn't doing well, I rescued it from some ants attacking it but not sure if it would survive.

Habitat:

tropical rainforest

Notes:

I spotted this while looking for orchids on a recently fallen over tree in Bogani Nani Wartabone national park.

Thanks bayucca. Great links! The one has insanely fluffly waxy filaments, never seen anything like that.
