Field Notes

Description:

Large with few warty projections; highly variable often acquiring color of surroundings.

This specimen is of a pinkish tone, still juvenile, around 10 cm in size.

Habitat:

Soitary, frequently on sponges.
Coastal, lagoon and outer reefs up to 50 meters depth

Yes, @hernandezwwolf99. I have seen Frogfishes hunting many times and have also managed to capture the encounters in video. You can watch this at my Facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10150513256222491&set=vb.121279531274515&type=3&theater In the video, you will see 2 different Giant Frogfishes hunting and a smaller Painted Frogfish hunting. The smaller Painted Frogfish is more dramatic as it managed to eat a Cardinal Fish half its size and you can visualize the size of this Frogfish from the playing card nearby. Frogfishes have been known to eat/swallow their prey nearly as big as themself!!!
