Field Notes
Description:
A tall mushroom with a soft but firm light olive green cap (70mm wide). The cap had a thin margin with a single deep indentation running all the way to the almost black felty centre. The surface of the cap was rough and granulose (pic # 4). The yellowish stipe was almost 1.5 times longer than the width of the cap and appeared scabrous. A partly detached flimsy whitish pendant ring was seen about a third of the way down the stipe. The base of the stipe was marginally swollen.
Gills were cream coloured and slightly decurrent.
A smaller second mushroom was spotted about a foot away from the first mushroom. The cap of this mushroom showed the beginnings of an indentation along the margin ( pic #5) - ? coincidence or is this a special feature ??
Habitat:
Spotted growing amongst grass in a deep damp gully off a suburban road.
Notes:
Absolutely beautiful and elegant-looking mushroom. The cap looked heart shaped with a beautiful olive green colour. Again, I'd love any assistance with an ID for this beauty. Thanks.
