Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

H. leucocephalus is considered by some to be a sub species of H. himantopus (Black winged Stilt), the differences are minimal. Many people give the common name of Pied Stilt to all black & white stilts! There is still contention as you would be aware of whether the 2 to 7 observed species should be separate or combined. There's possibility of cross-breeding with the variants so accurate ID is increasingly difficult to separate into species or subspecies. Slight variations to colour & pattern can show in birds of the same species too. Great photos.
