Field Notes

Description:

This patch of metallic blue-green eggs (each about 1.5 mm in diameter) were found attached to a garden wall on 6 June 14. Eight days later, none had hatched, a few were collapsed and there were many tiny parasitic wasps laying their own eggs into the moth eggs. I count about 12 wasps (last two pictures). The patch of eggs was about 3.5 cm long.

Habitat:

Urban area with lots of plum trees, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Again some of nature's beautiful designs! Very much like black pearls aren't they?!
Sckel, they are insidious little buggers! Thank you Namgyal.
I'm hating these small wasps, they killed all my pupae.
