James, I was updating my spottings of this plant and saw yours in the related spottings. In Florida we only have Pterocaulon pycnostachyum. Sorry about the incorrect ID. I'm not sure if it was previously thought to be in Florida and now they realize it isn't or what, but the sources I found before don't seem to list it anymore, and the Florida Plant Atlas does not either, and I normally go by what that site lists. http://florida.plantatlas.usf.edu/Plant.aspx?id=2041
