Eastern Wood-pewee
Contopus virens
42.4221, -74.025
Field Notes
Description:
I thought this was Contopus cooperi, however, I heard a Phoebe's call very close, and it very well may have been this individual, but Phoebe's never are this dark, correct? I was not able to get another photo before the bird flew away. The thing that I remembered most was how dark it was. Thanks to Fyn for pointing out this was more likely Contopus virens, which has the longer tail exhibited in this spotting.
Habitat:
Deciduous/coniferous forest near pond.
Notes:
Lifer, perhaps. ;-)
