Field Notes

Description:

Unfortunately these are the only two photos I got. I'm leaning towards Broad-tailed Hummingbird, but with migration going on it could also be Rufous or Calliope. I would like to get this down to species since it will be a lifer for me with whichever one it is, I'm just not sure it's possible to get down to species.

Habitat:

At about 7,000 ft elevation, flew into a pine tree while I was photographing another bird. It flew off very quickly and I only got these two photos.

Looks too large to be Calliope, I think your first assumption is accurate at Broad-tailed.
