Field Notes

Description:

Red bill and webbed legs. Mostly white with light ash coloured back. The head is yet to develop the distinctly dark brown colour of the adults. Some juveniles have a black dot on the head (another spotting)

Habitat:

Pangong Tso- a high altitude brackish water Lake in the Himalayas.

Notes:

Fearless of tourists. These birds are scavengers...the Lake is inhospitable, no fish or vegetation worth mentioning.
