Wow! Telll your sister to be sure and get a picture of you on a chair taking pictures! Ha ha. I do the same thing, a LED flashlight in one hand and the camera in the other :)
If you love moths the Dooars region of the state of West Bengal is the place to be. The moths will find you. I use a torch in one hand and a small camera in the other...my sister says I should use a head-mounted light! Maybe she has a point...but the walls are covered with moths and I am often on a chair trying to get the snaps...sometimes the photos are not good because maintaining balance is a problem...and come morning, they disappear. Do visit if you are planning a trip to India.
Thank you Sukanya! Yes, that's it. And the pictures in the reference have the same oddity of coloring, so I think it is a refection problem from the flash.
That's true Sukanya! I hadn't noticed that. I hope I see another one this week to compare. Maybe it was damaged? You sure are finding fantastic moths - wish I was there with you!
Lauren, Don't you think these two are similar (not perfectly) but maybe the direction to explore? Glyphodes sibilalis http://www.discoverlife.org/mp/20q?search=Glyphodes+sibillalis
Interesting pattern...the large circles are not similarly coloured. The one on the right is more grey with a touch of white. The one on the left is white with a touch of grey. Strange...that it is not symmetrically coloured.
