Description:

not sure if I've got the var. right... it's lighter-coloured than most pictures I've seen, either of var. persicina or guessowii.

Species ID Suggestions

Peach-colored Fly Agaric

Amanita muscaria var. persicina

The range probably fits better with guessowii, the easiest way to separate persicina from the other muscaria is examining the base of stem. To my knowledge persicina is only variety that lacks the well defined concentric zones of volval material. Color is not the best identifying characteristic of fungi, there can be fair amount of deviation within the expected color, and a mushroom this far along could have faded considerably. If you would like to take a stab at identifying your own Amanitacea, this site is an excellent resource, http://www.amanitaceae.org
I'm not sure of the var. persicina...someone else was insisting it was guessowii, but the pics I've seen of either variety are mostly much brighter coloured. Do you know how to tell the difference definitively?
