Field Notes

Description:

Double humped camel.

Habitat:

Nubra Valley, sand dunes. To reach here one has to pass through the Khardungla Pass at over 18,000 ft.

Notes:

These camels date back to the time when traders used the Silk route. Today the camels are used to give joy rides to tourists. The one here is a baby. The adults seemed to be moulting their thick winter coats.

This is what the one humped camel looks like. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1124896038
