The name of the family containing this spotting's unidentified species is "the whites" (Pieridae) because most species worldwide are dominantly white coloured. However "there also many yellow, green and even bright red and orange coloured species" like this one (subfamily

Habitat:

This spotting in a large semi-urban yard & garden adjacent to a disturbed patch of remnant forest, in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.
