Description:

A large, rather bulky ground squirrel possessing short, stocky limbs and a broad head. Shares the title of largest member of the squirrel family with the Alpine Marmot.

Habitat:

This particular subspecies inhabits the Rocky Mountains from the Yukon to Idaho and Montana. They live above the tree line in rocky terrain.

Notes:

This particular spotting was in the Hidden Lake Overlook area of Logan Pass, Glacier National Park, Montana, USA.
