Field Notes

Description:

A large longicorn which looks very similar to the larger flower wasps (Tiphiidae;Thynnus) around at the same time of year. <br>
About 30mm body.

Habitat:

Feeding on Ti-tree flowers in city water catchment area. These flowers were being attended by many hundreds of species.

Notes:

This genus is known for very diminished elytra. See pic 2 <br>
Likely to be H.plorator <br>
