Description:

A brightly doted caterpillar - body seems to black with yellow and red dots and orange-yellow hair.
Thaumetopoea is the genus.

Habitat:

Town

Notes:

This fell on me minutes ago from the trees above the Main Street of Kingston.

Thaumetopoea is definitely the genus, I can't seem to nail down the species however. Most images and species I saw when searching didn't quite have the bright red and yellow spots, though the general coloring and long "hairs" are consistent.
