Description:
Within salt scrub communities in Virginia, common rosemallow is also associated with groundsel-tree , Jesuit's bark, saltgrass. THey have what is classified as a "perfect flower" and are good indicators of brackish waters.
Habitat:
Common rosemallow is a dominant species in the following tidal oligohaline marsh communities of Virginia. Tidal oligohaline essentially means that they are found of ares with a salinity between .5 and 5 ppt, which occour as brackish zones along tidal rivers and streams
Notes:
Common rosemallow is glabrous on the upper leaf surface and has glabrous capsules. Common rosemallow is not rhizomatous or stoloniferous. Their breeding is through self breeding or cross, and they disburse their seeds long distance using the waterways.
