Field Notes

Description:

With long central tail feathers. fairly common in open country usually associated with water along rivers, marshes and ricefields. Hunts from exposed perches flying out to catch insects but prefers much on bees. Nests in colonies in river banks or cliffs. Rusty throat and olive green upperparts separate it from the Blue-throated Bee-eater.
