Field Notes

Description:

A gorgeous metallic wood boring beetle, yet devastating to the ash tree population. The problem is caused by the larvae, rather than adults. The larvae devastate the inner bark of the tree causing much damage that the trees cannot recover from.

Habitat:

Woodland habitat

Notes:

I'm a buprestid freak, and I really didn't even know what I was looking at when I took the photos. I've never seen one before and I was mesmerized by its beautiful green and gold colors.

Thank you Caleb! As destructive as these are, I was quite excited to see it.
