Field Notes

Description:

violet colored, on a stalk, separate from leaves, leaves around 8 inches tall, stalk 2 inches taller.

Habitat:

growing in a shady and very moist spot in my garden. Leaves and stalk sprouting with the rainy season.

Notes:

I thought it was a lily, until a commercial gardener said it was a ginger. Am not sure if I have identified it. The sequence from the first photo to the next is 3 days, in around 3 days from now, the stalk will be fully mature and identification easier. Am not sure if it came from a bulb or a rhizome. This is the second year it has been flowering. When the dry season came, the leaves withered, this year, there are 2 separate growths.
