Field Notes

Description:

Found this unusual fungi under a pine tree in a field at a county park. It measures about 1 1/2 inches wide and is about an inch in height. Top frilly portion is white and the gills are a cream color. Pretty.

Habitat:

Under a pine tree in a field at Kinder Farm Park in Millersville, Maryland

Wow! It appears to be an Amanita species, but a totally warped one! Cool find.
Thanks for comment gully.moy. I think it is one of the prettiest mushrooms I've seen.
Mental! My guess is that this species of mushroom doesn't usually look like this, but it's a somewhat deformed specimen. Could be wrong, either way - cool find!
