Field Notes

Description:

This black bug was about 15mm long with a black head, thorax and body. Neck was narrow. It had a fairly thick segmented rostrum. Antennae had 4 segments. Wings had a tinge of brown.
Legs were black, the first and second pair had thick femurs and a small flange at the distal end of the tibia.

Habitat:

Attracted by night lights.

Native to Europe.

Looks very much like the Black Corsair (Melanolestes picipes) from the US !
