Together we learn bit by bit with the help of others. Best part of PN. Jim does a wonderful job of photo taking. I learned a trick in a dragonfly class. Males tend to return to the same perch and if you want to catch them in a net, set up behind because their eyes are so good at seeing movement. :)

Well done Joanne! Perserverence furthers... Love the way it stands with it's abdomen straight up. And I have to say that I envy the photos Jim takes. So beautiful... I have learned heaps about dragonflies/Damselflies in the last couple of days. At least I am more aware of what to look for, and what angles to try and capture, instead of just going for a pretty picture! Thanks...

Think we have this one now. There were 11 choices form the Costa Rica list, http://efg.cs.umb.edu/monteverde/Ode/OdeMonteverde.html, but only 4 possibilities. This one has the slightly flared tip with a broken white patch and a straight stripe on the top of the thorax. I referenced Jim's photo in the suggestion.
