Field Notes

Description:

This jumper was enjoying chocolate ice cream I'd spilled in kitchen!Jumping spiders are carnivores in general, however many species are known to include nectar in their diet and thus maybe it was consuming the ice cream for the sugars. One species, Bagheera kiplingi, eats almost exclusively Beltian bodies, which are sugar-rich nubs that grow on acacia plants.

Habitat:

Jumpers from Genus Stenaelurillus generally prefer semi arid ground habitats, was surprised to see this one in my house.
