Field Notes

Description:

Looks to be late stage caterpillar. Black with longitudinal dorsal white strip, speckled sides of white and yellow speckles grouped together in bands, orange/gold and speckled eyes, head, feet and tail horn. 2.5 inches long

Habitat:

Grassy yard

Notes:

Has a clasping tail end. Spit out green liquid when tail was pushed.

Checked out the photos of the Bedstaw, close, this one is more orange than red and different speckles, but the head and the horned tail do look alike.
