Heheeh, they are really nice...would be cool to find a family like that :D
Amazing spotting! Very cute little fellow ^_^
I've seen shrews in a documentary and this is how they walk around -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0LhXJXDwzk so maybe it really got lost and maybe it was calling for its mom!
I found it because of its crying. It was kidding under some leaves and crying so when I picked it, actually it stopped crying. The size fits the common shrew species. The only thing could be that it lost its mom. And it was old enough to walk and hide.
yeah, adult shrews are tiny here! I've seen some :) , but they're so quick! It's really weird, that it let you pick it up! though I don't know if yours is a baby or an adult, it's cute anyway! :)
@ Flavio, I'm happy to hear your opinion and I'm also 100% not sure about the ID. I just couldn't find a better match than the common shrew. I will check the species you have sugested. Thanks a lot.
Flavio, Why do you think it was crying.
Yes, it did stop crying but when i released it, it started again. No, it wasn't a bite...It just looks like that from being poked by grass or something.
There is a hole in its shoulder, maybe it was bit by a cat? It must have been in pain to cry and let you pick it up.
Did it stop crying when you picked it up?
I thought it was baby but after some research i found out that shrews in Europe are really small. So it could be an adult even tough it behaved like baby.
