Ariramba-de-cauda-ruiva (Rufus tailed Jacamar)
Galbula ruficauda
-18.9189, -48.2769
Field Notes
Description:
Often mistaken with hummingbirds, because of the long beak and the shiny feathers, Arirambas are in a completely different family. They catch their prey (in this case a bottle fly) in plain air, and then whack it in a stone or branch until breaking its exoskeleton, to make it easier to digest.
