Description:

A small unidentified yellow wasp-mimic fly.

Habitat:

Observed on Hibiscus sp. in a large semi-urban yard and garden near a disturbed patch of remnant forest in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.

Thanks. I was debating if it was a wasp mimic or not. Yes now I see the arista.
Neat looking insect - but it is a fly (Diptera) not a wasp. There are lots of flies out there that like to look like wasps to confuse predators.
