Field Notes

Description:

Yellow warts on a yellow cap 7 cm wide. Flimsy volval remnants on the stem. Spore print was white.

Habitat:

Oak grove in Mulick Park, southeast Grand Rapids.

Notes:

Mychorrhizal, forming a symbiotic relationship with the oak. Called "blushing" because the flesh bruises red, particularly near the stem.
