Field Notes

Description:

This little guy has been in the same area on a weed/bush on the side of my house. It makes a chirping noise that sounds like a repetitive click. Not sure which type of grasshopper it is.

Species ID Suggestions

Meadow Katydid

Orchelimum sp.

Comments (1)

Tettigoniidae, Conocephalinae, Orchelimum sp., cannot tell you which one, all are very similar. Please, check yourself. Maybe you have other pictures of yours to show the head clearlier. If you look at the very long antennae, usually longer than the animal itself, than it is not a grasshopper, but a katydid. Grsshoppers usually have much shorter antennae.
