Field Notes

Description:

This very rare species in Thailand is a awe to watch. This male landed in my garden, took a twig to perch, left, came back, and so on. So I got time to prepare this nice shot. Usually they are found high in a tree, but I was lucky to find this male near the ground.

Habitat:

My garden

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

A Thai friend (Noppadon, thanks again) ID'ed this in Thailand rare dragonfly. It has one of the best common names I can think of: SULTAN... The deep red also over the wings and the large size makes it the perfect name. So now I can make this an official spotting with correct ID...
